Discovering New Things

This morning we headed out early for Tai Chi and after class, we started talking with Pierre and Tara who are both from Canada.  They were describing the disparity between the Canadian and U.S. dollar.  Their Canadian dollar is worth so little here. They encouraged us to visit Canada 🇨🇦 next summer as it would be very affordable for us. They also told us of their health care system and how they are unable to get into see their primary doctors and are forced to go to the ER where they must wait for hours on end.  Our conversation went on for over an hour and I missed my water aerobics class. I did, however, finally make it to the pool and met up with my friend,  Cindy, from New York and we chatted with Sheryl who I had met at the previous class. Sheryl was a Respiratory Therapist and lived in New Mexico for 25 years. Paul played Pickleball after Tai Chi and then we met back at the camper for lunch before heading out to the vegetable market truck where they sold fres...

Water Aerobics, Water volleyball and Impressionist

This is a laid back life here in Central Florida...our day began with a pancake breakfast made with pancakes and our Rose black cherry balsamic vinegar...very good! And bacon. (To clarify, Paul wants to say he only had the bacon and pancakes without balsamic vinegar.) Then I headed to the pool for water aerobics and Paul headed to the courts for Pickleball. I lingered at the pool to soak in some rays...oooh it felt amazing! I met two of the sweetest ladies... Donna and Cheryl...we chatted for quite awhile while getting some sun. They are both from Michigan! Then...back to the camper for some lunch and then back to the smaller pool for... water volleyball 🏐!  We met up with some of the people from last year...so good to get reacquainted!! We both had a lot of sun today and were surprised at how quickly things heated up during the day in the camper once we got back so the AC was turned up full blast and we rested til dinner and then headed out to see an impressionist.   Th...

Hoss Collar and Wiffle Ball

This morning we had a typical camping morning.  I slept in! We had a relaxing breakfast and just hung out in the camper. With Paul's injury he is reluctant to try playing Pickleball sadly.  This afternoon we biked over to the Wiffle ball court and played a couple games...I played while Paul watched that is. Paul has a splint on his finger to keep the wound from re-opening and this makes it difficult to do anything... like catching balls or holding bats. Again there were 30 people so we had 3 teams! After a Mediterranean pita sandwich late lunch we went for a bike ride around the park and checked out the fitness center. Then we headed out to play some Hoss Collar ... our first experience playing the game!  This is a spin off game from shuffleboard. I got to meet a couple from Jackson, Michigan, Kathy and Ron. They spend their mornings playing golf and invited us to come golfing with their group from our park. Back at the camper, we played some Cribbage...It was a nailbiter...

Tai Chi and Urgent Care

Image
This morning began early with Tai Chi. After class, Paul hit the Pickleball courts and I went to Crafts. We made 39 table runners for decorating tables for the Valentine's dance coming up. We also made candle holders for the tables. When I got back to the camper, I noticed bloody smears on the door. I called out to Paul and he was inside the camper with blood all over his hand. He explained he had Jimmy rigged a ladder to power wash the camper and had fallen and cut his hand on some sharp metal.  One look at his hand and i knew he needed stitches. Any other place he may have gotten by with his super glue, however this was on his knuckle on his middle finger of his right hand and it would not have held it together for long. So into town we went into the Urgent Care to get stitched up. After that ordeal, we were hungry and found a place to eat there in Sebring.  It was an Irish Pub. We ordered Sheppard 's pie and Cottsge pie. Sheppard's was made with lamb and Cott...

Pickleball at Last!!!

Today we FINALLY were able to play Pickleball!!  We woke up and had coffee and a quick breakfast and were off to the courts!  We saw so many of our old pickleball acquaintances as well as some new ones. I was surprised at how well i did! However, my muscles are feeling it tonight...I am a bit out of shape! After lunch, we headed back out for some whiffleball! There was a big turnout of 30 people so we had 3 teams. Paul and I were on the winning team! After playing 3 games, I was done and headed for the pool to cool off and relax.  Paul,  however,  stayed for a final game. After supper,  we biked all around the park until dark with Shaggy in my front basket...lovely relaxing day today!

Sunday Funday!

Today we walked to church. The camp church has grown since last year! We met some new friends who love to play cards!   Then we walked back to our camper and started getting visitors! First Linda and Randy, then Bill then Duwayne. It felt like the old days when people would randomly stop in for a Sundsy afternoon visit! ❤️  Duwayne was born at the same hospital i was born in. His daughter,  Joy, was only 2 pounds, born in 1963, at Shelby Hospital as well. She went blind from not having her eyes covered when under the incubator lights. She called while Duwayne was at our place and I chatted with her a few minutes.  We had met last year in the laundromat when she was here visiting her dad. She is a remarkable independent woman with a career and quite the traveler. She was a Queen for the Lions Club for the whole state of Michigan at one point and had to travel all over the state of Michigan. After all the visitors,  we sat out in the sun and Shaggy got a hair...
