Highlands Hammock, Picnic and Labelle BBQ

This morning we drove to one of our favorite parks, Highland Hammock State Park and hiked the trails.
This was an uprooted tree with water flowing underneath the roots...

We stopped for a picnic lunch despite the cold (51 degrees) and saw a deer who seemed uninterested and unafraid of us, just merrily chomping on foliage.

Later after we warmed up at the camper and had our naps, we headed out to meet up with friends at the historic hotel in Avon Park called Jacaranda. It was built by 2 men from Grand Rapids, Michigan! Here is a bit of history...

Then we carpooled with friends to Labelle for some BBQ ribs at Log Cabin BBQ...highly recommended! They served some interesting deep fried corn called "corn nuggets" with their ribs. The nuggets tasted like sweet hushpuppies but with corn and cornbread. The ribs were fabulous 👌; melted in your mouth with delicious BBQ sauce.

After the long day and with full bellies, we are exhausted. Time to rest up for more adventures tomorrow!!
